If you’re like most professionals, you probably need a good headshot. But getting a great outdoor headshot can be tricky. Here are 10 tips to help you get the best shots possible!

1. Get plenty of sunlight.
The best time for outdoor headshots is early morning or late afternoon when the sun is shining directly on your subject’s face.

2. Avoid busy backgrounds.
Find a spot with a simple background, like a plain wall or open field, to help your subject stand out.

3. Use props sparingly.
Props can be helpful for adding interest to an outdoor headshot, but use them sparingly or they’ll take away from the main focus of the photo – your subject’s face.

4. Dress appropriately for the weather and season.
If it’s cold outside, dress in warm layers; if it’s hot, opt for light fabrics that won’t make you too sweaty.

5. Bring along some water and snacks!
Staying hydrated and fed will help keep you energized during your shoot.

6. Be patient!
Outdoor headshots can take a little longer than indoor headshots since you’re working with natural light and varying weather conditions, but the results are worth it!

7. Use a light reflector.
Sometimes it can be hard to capture natural light; using a light reflector can help shine light on your subject!

8. Work with a tripod.
Taking a photo freehanded can cause the picture to come out shaky, but using a tripod can make the picture clearer.

9. Take lots of photos!
Taking a lot of photos allows you to have more options to choose from. And make sure to take pictures from different angles to give yourself a variety!

10. Relax and smile!
Taking photos should be a fun experience, so think about something happy to help you feel comfortable in front of the camera!
