There has been a lot of bad press lately about photoshop. However, I want you to know that I 100% believe in “photoshopping” your photos. Why would you do such a thing you may ask? Photoshop is NOT evil. I don’t believe it sets unrealistic expectations and I think every photographer who doesn’t utilize it properly is doing their clients a disservice.
To me, it’s like being a chef who prepares their meal and flavors it to perfection, but then doesn’t stick it in the oven to cook it. It’s like sitting in the chair at the dentists office after they have cleaned your teeth, put the flouride in your mouth, and then they don’t allow you to rinse out your mouth before you leave. It’s like finding the cutest dress in the store with the perfect jewelry and purse to coordinate and then putting on last year’s running shoes.
Okay, i’m sure you get the point. Retouching your images is really the last step in “the session”. Sure you’ve spent hours preparing, and yes I get it, “why don’t you shoot for perfection in camera?”. I do….for the most part. But there are still some things I DO retouch. And my clients know exactly what I’m talking about when I tell them I have a bag of pixie dust I’ll throw on their image to take care of specific necessary things. Want to see what I’m talking about? Take a look at this video and find out!
What do YOU think? Still think photoshop is bad? I know my clients LOVE that i’m a self proclaimed photoshop master 😉 Leave your comments below!
