David’s story is one of perseverance, family values, and ambition. As a first-generation immigrant from El Salvador, he grew up watching his father work in home improvement. At just 11 years old, David began helping his father, initially serving as his translator and later learning essential construction skills like drywall, painting, and roofing. His father instilled in him a strong work ethic, which has been the foundation of his success.

After high school, David was introduced to the roofing industry and the world of insurance claims, where he learned how to navigate approvals for wind, hail, fire, and mold damage. Over time, he built teams and gained extensive experience before deciding to launch his own business in 2020.

From Humble Beginnings to Business Ownership

Starting out in his parents’ home, David rebuilt Virginia Home Services from the ground up. He developed the company website, knocked on doors for clients, and rebranded the business to focus on quality service and customer relationships. With a Class A license, Virginia Home Services now handles everything from roofing to full-scale home remodeling projects.

One of the biggest milestones was when David’s father officially handed over the business reins. While his father preferred to stay local and focus on small repairs, David had bigger dreams—to expand his company nationwide, with a goal of servicing all 50 states.

The Power of a Family-Owned Business

David credits his family’s support for the company’s success. Whether it’s his father, mother, or girlfriend stepping in to assist, their strong foundation keeps the business thriving. He also highlights that customers appreciate family-owned businesses, as they often provide a more personalized and trustworthy experience compared to large corporate contractors.

This personal connection has led to over 100 successful roofing projects in the Loudoun County area, helping Virginia Home Services establish a strong referral network built on quality service and trust.

Why Virginia Home Services is the Swiss Army Knife of Contractors

One of the standout aspects of Virginia Home Services is its versatility. While many contractors specialize in one service, David ensures his company provides a full range of home improvement solutions, including:

  • Roofing (Residential & Commercial)
  • Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling
  • Fire, Water, and Mold Damage Repairs
  • New Home Construction

With a team of skilled subcontractors—many of whom are family friends—David guarantees top-notch quality control and seamless communication on every project. His dedication to transparency and high standards has allowed him to deliver outstanding workmanship across multiple trades.

A Vision for Expansion and Community Impact

David is not just growing his business—he’s creating opportunities. His goal is to expand across the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) before branching out to other states. By doing so, he wants to help aspiring entrepreneurs launch their own contracting businesses, ensuring that his company’s impact extends beyond just home improvements.

Although he recently restructured his team, David is preparing for a major hiring push in 2025 and 2026. His vision includes hiring passionate individuals who will one day run their own branches of Virginia Home Services in different states.

The home improvement industry has faced numerous challenges in recent years, from fluctuating material costs to shifting customer demand. David combats these obstacles by staying informed through insurance company pricing databases and adapting to seasonal shifts in demand.

He also embraces technology and social media to keep up with industry trends. From TikTok and Instagram marketing to creating engaging content for homeowners, he’s leveraging digital platforms to educate and connect with potential clients.

Advice for Future Business Owners

David is passionate about mentoring young entrepreneurs in the industry. His advice?

  • Stay consistent—success comes to those who keep pushing forward.
  • Learn from others—whether through mentors, business partners, or networking.
