“Painting With Purpose: How Meghan Bogue Is Brightening Communities With Whole Heart Murals”
When expressive art meets deep intention, the result is magic on the wall—and that’s exactly what Meghan Bogue brings to life through her business, Whole Heart Murals.
In our conversation with Meghan on The Alimond Show, we dove into her remarkable journey from school psychologist to full-time muralist, where she blends art, heart, and psychology to create public art that deeply connects with people and their spaces.
Growing up surrounded by acting, dance, and visual art, Meghan always felt called to creative expression. Her professional path first led her into psychology, where she worked with children in Loudoun and Fairfax counties for over a decade. There, she discovered that art was a powerful bridge for emotional connection—and during the isolating COVID years, that insight led her to launch Whole Heart Murals as a way to facilitate community, healing, and joy through art.
What began as art workshops for kids and adults quickly evolved when a local business asked her to transform their blank walls into something meaningful. Meghan, despite initial nerves about the scale, said yes—and instantly fell in love with mural-making.
Now, her vibrant, whimsical, and nature-inspired murals can be seen all across Northern Virginia, from restaurants like Locals Tacos & Tequila in Haymarket to fear-free veterinary clinics, yoga studios, breweries, and more. With every project, Meghan listens deeply to her clients’ stories and values, using her psychology background to help them turn their vision into a living piece of art that reflects their brand, personality, or mission.
For Meghan, it’s not just about painting walls—it’s about evoking joy, building connection, and sparking a little childlike wonder in everyone who sees her work. Whether she’s adding dancing tacos to a community mural or designing a peaceful mountain scene with pets and wildflowers, her whole heart goes into every brushstroke.
Meghan also shared her advice for creatives who want to turn passion into profession: “Face your fear. Don’t let doubt hold you back.” Her own journey is proof that when you step out with courage and authenticity, your work can inspire, uplift, and even win awards—like her recent honors as Best Artist in Prince William County and Haymarket/Gainesville.
We’re so honored to have had Meghan on the podcast and can’t wait to see how she continues to paint love, joy, and connection all over our communities.
