It’s Never Too Late to Live Strong: Joanie Fay on Fitness, Passion, and Empowerment Through Movement
Joanie Fay, founder of JFay Fitness, didn’t start her career in a gym—she started it on a spin bike in her living room. What began as a personal hobby quickly evolved into a full-blown career pivot fueled by purpose, passion, and persistence. In our recent podcast episode, Joanie shared how she transformed her side interest in cycling into a thriving fitness and nutrition coaching business that empowers busy adults to restart their health journeys—no matter their age or starting point.
After realizing her 9–5 job lacked passion, Joanie took the leap. She became a certified personal trainer and later a certified nutrition coach through NASM. Today, she serves clients ranging from first-time gym-goers to adults in their 70s and 80s, proving that “it’s never too late to live strong, healthy, and happy.” She trains clients in person and virtually, combining expertise with empathy and using the “3 M’s” to guide every session: Movement, Motivation, and Music.
One of Joanie’s proudest transformations? Training her own father, who took up adult rec league baseball in his 40s and now plays stronger and more confidently than ever—all thanks to structured strength training and supportive coaching.
Joanie’s approach is holistic. Alongside physical training, she helps clients dial in their nutrition through customized support, macro tracking, and realistic meal planning. To reinforce results, she offers monthly InBody 270 scans, empowering clients to monitor body composition changes far beyond the number on the scale.
From virtual workouts to slam ball stress relief, deadlift milestones, and Spotify playlists tailored to each client, Joanie creates an environment where fitness is fun, functional, and empowering. Her women’s wellness retreats and speaking engagements extend her impact even further, reaching new communities ready to embrace strength and self-care.
Whether you’re facing your first Bulgarian split squat or your 500th deadlift, Joanie’s message is clear: start where you are, and don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable—because that’s where the magic happens.
