From Rock Star to Real Estate: How Judy McHenry Found Her Rhythm in Loudoun County’s Housing Market

Blog Post:
When you meet Judy McHenry, you’re not just meeting a seasoned realtor—you’re meeting someone who’s lived many lives, all centered around one common thread: service. Whether she was helping patients recover at a neurorehab facility, managing hotel sales in D.C., or fronting a 90s alt-rock band, Judy has always led with empathy, dedication, and heart.

Today, Judy is a key part of the Platinum Group Real Estate Team, helping clients navigate the often emotional process of buying and selling homes throughout Loudoun County, Western Loudoun, Clark County, and even parts of Maryland. But her path to real estate was anything but conventional.

After a career in healthcare and hospitality, and even some time in interior design and furniture sales, it was a frustrating experience selling her father’s condo that became her catalyst. “You’d be a great realtor,” her father used to say. He was right. Fourteen years later, Judy has built a thriving business on relationships, referrals, and genuine care for her clients.

Her approach to real estate is deeply influenced by her background in psychology. “I sometimes joke that I’m more of a case manager,” Judy shared. “You’re juggling inspections, contractors, emotions—it’s all about making sure clients feel supported through the entire process.” That calm, solutions-focused mindset has served her well, especially in high-stress scenarios like divorce sales or first-time homebuying.

She’s also a proud advocate for mental health, serving on the board for Friends of Loudoun Mental Health, an organization that provides housing and financial support to residents receiving mental health services. “Housing and mental health are deeply connected,” she emphasized. “Being part of something that helps people maintain stability in their homes is incredibly meaningful to me.”

Even with her professional success, Judy keeps things real. She calls herself “simple” and is happy in her cozy 1,600-square-foot Hamilton home. She doesn’t flood social media with market stats or brag posts. Instead, she shares slices of real life—like prom photos featuring baby lambs in Western Loudoun, or renovation videos of her investment properties, which are part of her long-term retirement plan.

And did we mention she used to be a rock star? In the late 90s, Judy fronted a band called Villa Rosie, touring up and down the East Coast and getting airplay on iconic stations like WHFS. “We put out an album called Everybody Rides,” she recalled. “It was an amazing time. I wish I was 25 years younger—I’d do it all over again.”

Through every chapter of her journey, one thing is clear: Judy McHenry is all about connection—whether it’s through music, hospitality, or helping someone find their forever home. Her father’s advice still echoes in her mind: “Don’t spend time worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet.” It’s a mantra she lives by and shares with her clients daily.

In an ever-changing market, Judy remains a steady presence, helping her clients find clarity, comfort, and confidence with every move they make.
