From the Classroom to Closing Day: How Maureen Landes Is Redefining Real Estate in Loudoun County

When you meet Maureen Landes, you immediately sense her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to service. As the founder of Landes Properties, Maureen brings a unique blend of experience, community insight, and heart-centered values to every real estate transaction — all rooted in over 30 years of living, working, and raising a family in Loudoun County.

A Journey Built on Home

Before real estate, Maureen was a high school teacher — a background that shines through in how she educates, empowers, and connects with her clients. But long before she led classrooms or contracts, she unknowingly took her first steps into real estate with a short stint showing homes in New York City after college.

She later returned to Virginia, settled in Loudoun, and never looked back. “I’ve moved more than 20 times in my life,” she shared. “So when I help clients move — whether across town or across states — I truly understand the emotions and logistics behind it.”

That deep empathy and lived experience set her apart in an industry where trust and understanding are everything.

Loudoun Life, Local Expertise

With decades of personal roots in the area, Maureen offers far more than MLS access — she delivers the inside scoop on what it’s really like to live in Loudoun County, Ashburn, and Brambleton. From walkable neighborhoods to award-winning schools, kid-friendly libraries to hidden gems like Ida Lee Water Park, she helps clients discover more than a home — she helps them find community.

“This area is so diverse and dynamic. You’re close to D.C. but also surrounded by nature, wineries, and small-town charm,” she said. “It really offers the best of both worlds.”

Real Estate with a Teacher’s Heart

Maureen’s approach is personal, thoughtful, and always tailored to the individual. Just like her days in the classroom, she understands that no two clients are the same. Whether you prefer clear bullet points or hand-holding through every step, she adapts to your needs — while ensuring you feel heard, informed, and in control.

Her client philosophy is simple: take the stress off their shoulders so they can focus on what matters. “My job is to make the process feel easy — even when it’s not behind the scenes,” she explained. “If they say, ‘Wow, that wasn’t so bad,’ I know I’ve done it right.”

Going Above and Beyond — Naturally

It’s not about grand gestures — it’s about meaningful ones. From bringing dog toys to clients who foster pups, to gifting books to families with newborns, Maureen finds thoughtful ways to show she cares long after closing day.

She also stays connected authentically — never in a salesy way — but because she genuinely wants to know how her clients are doing. “That relationship doesn’t end when the contract does,” she said.

Ethics, Advocacy & Environmental Care

What guides Maureen every day? Ethics. Transparency. Advocacy. And a desire to use her platform for good. She recently became an ASPCA Business Ambassador, actively supports the Trevor Project, and is a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance.

Her passion for animals and the environment also shows up in her real estate philosophy. “Development is booming, but we also need to protect what makes Loudoun beautiful,” she said, encouraging clients to explore eco-friendly landscaping like pollinator gardens and sustainable yards.

Beach Dreams & Next Chapters

Looking ahead, Maureen is expanding her reach to the Delaware beaches — a place her family has grown to love. She’s working on becoming licensed there and hopes to blend personal use with rental opportunities, while helping others find their own little coastal escape.

“It’s part of my long-term vision,” she shared. “I want to grow intentionally — helping people, protecting spaces, and continuing to love what I do.”

Redefining Success, One Client at a Time

When asked about success, Maureen paused thoughtfully. “I don’t know if I’ve hit all the traditional markers yet,” she admitted. “But to me, success is about creating a life that feels aligned, purposeful, and positive — and helping others do the same.”

From Loudoun County roots to beach town goals, Maureen Landes is the kind of realtor who brings heart to every transaction and depth to every relationship.
