Lessons from Local Leaders:
Dr. Sarah Wahab
Finding the right therapist often feels overwhelming. But for families, couples, and individuals seeking real change, Dr. Sarah Wahab, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Vienna, Virginia, has built her practice around a unique blend of compassion, authenticity, and collaboration.
From Biology Major to Compassionate Clinician
Growing up, Dr. Wahab never imagined a career in mental health. Her family expected her to pursue medicine or dentistry. After earning a biology degree from George Mason University, she felt unfulfilled by the traditional medical path. A pivotal conversation with a culturally competent psychiatrist opened her eyes to the power of therapy.
“I realized I could help people by guiding them to see things differently, to get unstuck. That discovery changed everything for me.”
A Collaborative, Family-Systems Approach
Dr. Wahab works with clients across a broad range of diagnoses—anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance use disorders—and with people at all stages of life, from teens to older adults. She also has a deep passion for couples and family therapy, starting each journey with a family genogram to map patterns and relationships.
Her philosophy: therapy is a collaborative journey.
“Clients are the experts of their own lives. My role is to guide them as they navigate their challenges and find their own solutions.”
Building Spaces for Healing and Growth
This year, Dr. Wahab launched Therapy Hub, a calming and welcoming shared office space designed for mental health providers and their clients. Her intention was to create a space where everyone—from therapists starting out in private practice to families walking in for their first session—can feel relaxed, centered, and ready to do meaningful work.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Dr. Wahab also provides consultation and training for corporations, medical practices, and dental teams, helping leaders and employees set healthy boundaries, enhance communication, and improve workplace culture.
Her Driving Passion
What keeps Dr. Wahab inspired is seeing people experience progress—sometimes quickly, often gradually—as they confront challenges and develop healthier dynamics.
“Lasting change doesn’t come from quick fixes. It comes from self-awareness and the courage to do the hard work.”
For Dr. Wahab, success means that clients and colleagues leave her practice not just with reduced symptoms, but with new insights and tools for continued growth—whether at home, at work, or in their relationships.
