Andrew’s path to home design wasn’t a straight one. After graduating from Radford University, he started his career at Craig Van Lines, a local moving company. It was there that he discovered his passion for working directly with homeowners — helping families transition into new chapters of their lives.

Those early experiences taught him the power of communication, service, and trust — values that would later become the foundation of his work at Floor Coverings International.

But the story truly began when Andrew’s father, recently retired from a long corporate career in global payment processing, decided that golf every day wasn’t enough. The two decided to combine their strengths and open a family business built on integrity and teamwork.

In April 2023, Floor Coverings International of Loudoun County officially opened its doors — and they’ve been serving local homeowners with heart ever since.

For Andrew, customer service isn’t just a checkbox. It’s a philosophy.
“Customer service,” he says, “isn’t the right term. I call it customer experience.”

He’s right. Many contractors can install a floor that looks great. But Andrew and his team go beyond installation — they deliver a process that feels effortless, transparent, and human. From showing up on time to keeping clients informed every step of the way, their mission is simple: eliminate the stress from home renovation.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty when you invite a contractor into your home,” Andrew explains. “You don’t always know who’s coming, how they’ll treat your space, or if they’ll actually do what they promise. We make sure our clients never feel that way.”

The Mobile Showroom That Comes to You

His mobile van carries over 2,500 samples, transforming the client’s driveway into a personal design studio. Before each visit, his team conducts a detailed setup call to understand the client’s vision — how they live, what their style is, and how they use each space.

When Andrew walks into a home, he’s not guessing. He’s showing homeowners exactly how each sample will look under their lighting, next to their furniture, and alongside their wall colors.

“It’s about making design easy and real,” he says. “You don’t have to imagine how it’ll look — you see it in your own home.”

In an industry where shortcuts are common, Andrew stands out for his honesty.
“I talk myself out of jobs all the time,” he admits with a laugh.

If a client doesn’t need a full floor replacement and a repair will do, he tells them. That authenticity builds trust — and long-term relationships that go far beyond a single project.

And when things don’t go as planned? He owns it. “We make mistakes — everyone does. What matters is how we fix them.”

One of Andrew’s favorite stories involves a family in Piedmont Country Club, Haymarket. They had planned to renovate their floors before listing the house for sale. After Andrew and his team completed the project — redoing the staircase, railing, and all three levels of flooring — the homeowners changed their minds.

“They decided not to move,” Andrew recalls. “They fell back in love with their home.”

Moments like that remind him why he does what he does. It’s not about selling floors — it’s about giving people a renewed connection to their space.

Leadership That Leads by Example

Andrew learned everything he knows about leadership by watching his father.
“He’s in his 60s and still works harder than anyone I know,” Andrew says proudly. “When you see that, it’s impossible not to give your best too.”

That philosophy shapes how he manages his team — leading from the front, working alongside them, and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels valued.
